What Is Grapefruit Extract

The grapefruit extract is an organic product that is obtained from the seeds and the fleshy part of the fruit. It has the chemical name diphenol hydroxybenzene and is a combination of different natural constituents: flavonoids, amino acids, saccharides, polyphenols, vitamins of the B group (particularly biotin, which is important for the metabolism) and vitamin C, which reaches up to 30 mg/g.

In the extract, the following minerals can be detected: phosphorus, potassium, iron, sodium, and magnesium. In the process of obtaining biocitrin, the extract gets concentrated, which results in a conversion of flavonoids in the sweet-bitter fruit in an extremely effective anti-microbial, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic mixture.

It’s a fact that this extract with its broad antimicrobial activity kills more than 800 species of bacteria and viruses, over 100 strains of fungi and molds, as well as many parasites. Laboratory tests confirm its effective action against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Salmonella enteriditis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Helicobacter pilori, Herpes simplex, Candida, and others.

The final product from obtaining the grapefruit extract is a yellow liquid with high viscosity and with a characteristic bitter-sweet taste. In its concentrated form, it is highly acidic and is unsuitable for consumption.

For the reduction of this characteristic taste to a tolerable level water or vegetable glycerin has to be added, which significantly reduces the possibility of accidental direct contact, which may lead to irritation of the skin or mucosa.

If inadvertently this product gets into your eyes, even at the lowest concentrations, it can cause serious irritation, which requires a consultation with a specialist. It should be noted that people who are allergic to citrus fruits can develop an allergy to the grapefruit extract.

The Miraculous Power of the Grapefruit Extract

Due to its wide-spectrum properties, the extract is successfully used in some diseases associated with the lowering of immunity. The number of people, who use it as a means of protection against fungi, bacteria, viruses, and parasites, is constantly growing.

Grapefruit extract contains bitter hemostatic flavonoids, which help digestion, reduce cholesterol levels and reduce some of the arterial deposits. It has been found that its prolonged use significantly reduces the harmful bacteria and fungi, accumulated in the gut.

Grapefruit extract is useful for:

  • allergy, asthma, influenza, common cold, cough, rhinitis, sinusitis, otitis.
  • gastritis, ulcers, swollen stomach, bladder infections, cystitis, diarrhea.

Through its therapeutic ingredients, the extract kills a lot of harmful pathogens that emit toxins within the blood. Very often some harmful pathogens and toxins are greater than the body can handle.

This causes an immune system response, which in turn leads to deterioration of the general condition of the body, characterized by certain symptoms (e.g., headache, constipation, skin rashes, diarrhea). A number of studies show that the intake of this extract has a beneficial effect on the overall condition of the body:

  • bad breath, tartar, bleeding gums.

Experience shows that the use of this product reduces the bleeding of gums with  67%. It is effective for the reduction of fungi in the oral cavity that causes graying of the tongue and the mucosa, known as 'thrush.'

And it is also useful in patients with a plastic prosthesis in their mouth as well as in children with orthodontic appliances, which very often lead to the emergence of various fungi and allergies in the oral cavity.

Оn the other hand, wounds in the oral cavity heal rapidly after a surgical procedure due to the use of the extract:

  • acne, dandruff, fungal diseases, contact dermatitis.

The extract of this fruit is used in cosmetics as a preservative. As natural antimicrobial and non-toxic mixture with highlighted preservative properties, biocitrin successfully fights some unpleasant consequences resulting from the use of cosmetics, such as unwanted eczema, skin fungus, cold sores, and rashes.

This, in turn, means that the cosmetic product containing such an extract is highlighted with healing properties. It can even be used to disinfect hands, especially during autumn and winter, when colds and flu infections are very common.

It is proven that the extract of grapefruit is 10 to 100 times more effective in destroying the microbes than iodine and tea tree oil. One or two drops rubbed into the hands for 1-2 minutes have much better antiviral and antibacterial activity than most soaps.
